Resumes and Essays
MURRAY PREP also offers resume development, and while we do not write essays for students, we do assist in brainstorming ideas, editing and revising essays by making suggestions regarding clarity, content, style and tone.
Focus
Each person has unique accomplishments, experiences and and interests to share. We focus on these in one-on-one sessions to develop the client's own Message Map, which can form the basis of a resume for college applications. Those seeking employment often find additions to their Message Map and new ways to make their experience relevant to employers.
Prepare
" Tell me about yourself . . ." What do you say? Together, we prepare options that will lead the interview in a positive direction. We do not create "cookie cutter" answers to memorize. Often, students discover topics for college admission essays. Every client learns how to keep an interview on tract with positive points.
Practice
It's difficult to talk about oneself while showing interest in the interviewer and humility at the same time. That's why we practice answering questions in a role playing format. If a student is comfortable with videotaping, we use it to show them how they appear to others. Improvement is often clearly evident on the second try. Videotaping is recommended for all those seeking employment.
